#5 Beats for Nicko was founded to improve the lives of children and families affected by congenital heart disease through compassion, support, and opportunity.
Every year, thousands of families face overwhelming medical diagnoses, lengthy hospital stays, financial hardship, and an uncertain future. We know that journey because we lived it. Nicholas "Nicko" Ludwig, was diagnosed before birth with a complex congenital heart defect. Throughout his twelve years, he faced countless surgeries, procedures, and challenges with extraordinary courage, joy, and unwavering faith. Although Nicko passed away in 2023 following a heart transplant, his life continues to inspire everything this foundation stands for.
Today, #5 Beats for Nicko exists to ensure that other families feel supported, encouraged, and never alone. Through financial assistance, youth programs, scholarships, medical travel support, research initiatives, and meaningful community experiences, we strive to create hope where it is needed most.
This foundation isn't only about remembering Nicko. It's about carrying his heart forward by making a difference in the lives of others.
