Nicko’s Legacy lives on

Nicko’s life was defined by courage, resilience, and joy. Diagnosed before birth with severe congenital heart defects, he endured multiple open-heart surgeries and overcame incredible odds from his very first days. After his Fontan surgery at age two and a half, he took his first steps just after his third birthday—a moment his family had long prayed for.

Nicko lived a vibrant life filled with sports, music, and the people he loved most. He was known for his infectious laugh, quick smile, and ability to bring joy and light to everyone around him. He loved cheering on others, being part of the game, and making memories with family and friends.

When his heart began to fail and caused serious liver disease, Nicko was listed for a heart transplant in January 2023. Just six weeks later, he received the call filled with hope. Tragically, he passed away on February 21, 2023, shortly after his transplant.

In his 12 years, Nicko inspired countless people with his strength, spirit, and unwavering joy. 5 Beats for Nicko exists to carry forward his legacy—bringing hope, awareness, and impact to others facing congenital heart disease.
